Charming French Cottage
Le Petit Charme (LPC) is a newly renovated and fully furnished luxury French cottage located in the tiny medieval village of Argens-Minervois. LPC features an interior courtyard and an exterior garden, from which you can view the 12th-century chateau that towers over the cottage as well as the banks of the beautiful Canal du Midi, which runs through the village.
At 85 square meters (915 square feet), LPC is perfect for two, though spacious enough to comfortably accommodate up to four. Central air-conditioning keeps the quarters cool and comfortable during hot summers, while a wood stove and electric heat provide cozy warmth during the coldest, dampest winters.
LPC includes a living/dining/kitchen area that’s ideal for casual entertaining. In addition, there is a master bedroom suite, which includes a dressing room, vanity area, walk-in shower, and water closet. The bedroom opens onto a private courtyard. Additional guests are easily accommodated in the living area, where the sofa pulls out to a comfortable queen-size bed.
Fine Design, Furnishings & Decor
Indoors, cream-colored walls change hue with the light, complementing a harvest palette of ochre, red, gold, silver, and bronze. Contemporary and antique furnishings—an eclectic mix of glass, mirror, wood, and metal—create an elegant counterpoint to the floors of modern and antique tiles that ground the space. Outdoors, surrounded by as-far-as-the-eye-can-see vineyards, LPC guests will feel as though they’re living among the grapes.
Comfortable Living Area
LPC’s spacious living area features a comfortable sleeper sofa that has an array of down cushions. An upholstered armchair next to a wood-burning stove completes the seating. A custom-built wall unit houses a state-of-the-art entertainment system, which includes a flat-panel screen with a DVD player and film library. There is also a stereo system with a variety of CDs. A collection of books (including several local guides and historical accounts) provides a relaxing way to pass the time.
Convivial Dining Area
Adjacent to the living space and kitchen, the inside dining area provides for freely flowing conversation between cooks and guests. With seating for up to six, the modern Italian glass dining table is illuminated by a 19th-century crystal and brass chandelier. It is flanked by a grand Louis XVI-style armoire that holds small kitchen appliances and provides ample storage.
The up-to-date kitchen is a delight for those who like to cook while on holiday. Appliances include an induction cooktop, a full-size electric oven, and a microwave as well as a grill. Cupboards are stocked with an assortment of basic cooking ingredients, including oils, vinegars, and spices. Guests will enjoy preparing the day’s market purchases on the granite countertops before adjourning to the adjacent courtyard to enjoy an aperitif. A collection of stylish cutlery, tabletop accessories, and candles ensures an elegant meal.
The enclosed Mediterranean-style courtyard is furnished with a bubbling fountain, an antique marble-top table with seating for four, and two comfortable lounge chairs. It is perfect for sunning, dining, and entertaining. An assortment of lights and candles illuminates the area by night, creating quite the romantic ambience.
A cozy bedroom, decorated in a soft palette of lavender, grey, silver, and white, provides a relaxing and sensual sleep environment. The high-quality, full-size mattress is topped with a sumptuous featherbed wrapped in fine Egyptian cotton linens. A down comforter and a collection of plump pillows provide warmth and comfort. French doors open onto a private courtyard, where guests can enjoy early morning coffee and the calming sounds and scents of the French countryside while relaxing in plush terry-cloth robes.
Private Dressing Area
Ample storage space, a full-length mirror, and a makeup/vanity area make getting ready for the day a pleasure.
Adjacent to the bedroom is a large tiled shower designed to accommodate two people. An oversized hot water heater ensures plenty of warm water, while the quality shower fixture ensures excellent water flow.
Work Station & Laptop Computer
Guests have use of a laptop computer and unlimited high speed Internet access at a small work station in the living room. There is a portable phone and a variety of office supplies—all for guest use.
Garden Terrace & Vineyard Views
An old stone well—now turned into an outdoor sidetable—anchors the garden terrace. Here, guests can enjoy relaxing countryside and vineyard views while dining alfresco.
